As I began the semester in this audio production class I was looking forward to the opportunity of not just learning how to create pieces of audio but also learning to appreciate the sound that made up the projects. The first assignment which was the "Playlist of Me" was a challenging but very rewarding project for me. Its always hard when I have to sit and reflect on myself in order to find things that define me. I spent much time on trying to find the perfect songs to describe where I came from, where I am now, as well as where I'm going in the future. When it came to writing the script to the playlist, things became a little more clear for me. In writing it as well as recording and editing the project I was able to read back and listen to the words I wrote and I quickly realized that I wasn't just working on a project, I was reflecting on experiences in my past and looking forward to the future more deeply than I had in a very long time. When I put the music together with my words it just seemed to blend fluidly. I knew I had made the right choices with the songs because every one, when used in conjunction with my voice, struck all kinds of emotions for me. I was able to look back on the good times I have had as well as the adversity that I have fought in my life. I was able to see both those aspects and most importantly to me, apply them to my plans for the future. This first assignment was rewarding for me in many ways. From one perspective it gave me valuable experience in editing and recording sound. From another angle it gave me a chance to take a look in the mirror and reflect on the person I am, and not to sound arrogant, but I sure liked what I saw.
